Domestic waste survey in Kempsey NSW

As part of an EPA-funded organics recycling program, EC Sustainable was engaged by Kempsey Shire Council to examine how households dispose of their domestic waste, recycling and garden organics.

The survey was conducted to assist Kempsey Shire Council to minimise landfill costs and maximise recycling. The study provided Council with information on:

– The types of waste landfilled from households using the red lid waste bin, particularly materials that could have been recycled by residents.
– The amount and type of recyclables saved from landfill by residents using their yellow lid recycling bins (paper and containers) and green lid recycling bins (organics).
